The CGA Alumni Mentoring Programme is designed to support CGA students as they prepare for the next stage of their professional journey. By connecting students with experienced CGA alumni and faculty members, the programme offers personalized career guidance, valuable industry insights, and opportunities to develop the skills and networks needed for long-term success.

Why an Alumni Mentoring Programme?

Choosing a career path after a PhD or graduate programme can be challenging. While the CGA already provides career development training through annual modules, individual mentoring offers tailored support that addresses each student's unique aspirations and goals.

Thanks to their shared academic background and familiarity with the research environment in Cologne, CGA alumni are ideally positioned to guide current students through important career decisions. Their firsthand experience enables them to provide practical advice, honest feedback, and meaningful encouragement.

What Participants Can Expect

The mentoring programme complements the existing CGA curriculum by providing one-on-one guidance in areas such as:

How the Programme Works

All CGA students who have completed their 1.5-year TAC can discuss potential mentors with the CGA coordinators, who will facilitate necessary contacts. Once a mentor-mentee partnership has been established, the participants communicate regularly, and students can apply for a grant of up to 300€ to attend courses or other career-related events that support their professional development.
