Two CGA Alumni Receive Klaus Liebrecht Award
We are delighted to congratulate two of our alumni members, Aishwarya Acharya and David Meyer, both from the CGA Class of 2018, on receiving the prestigious Klaus Liebrecht Award 2026 from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Cologne.
The Klaus Liebrecht Award recognizes outstanding doctoral and diploma theses and honors young researchers who have made exceptional scientific contributions.
Aishwarya Acharya conducted her doctoral research in the laboratory of Constantinos Demetriades at the MPI for Biology of Ageing, while David Meyer completed his PhD in the laboratory of Björn Schumacher at the CECAD Research Center. During their time at CGA, both researchers demonstrated a strong commitment to scientific excellence and made important contributions to their respective fields.
Reflecting on the award, David Meyer said: “The Klaus Liebrecht Award for my research on biological clocks (ageing clocks) is the perfect conclusion to my PhD. I am especially pleased to share this success with Aish for her work on mTOR. It is a wonderful testament to the scientific diversity of our graduate school.”
His words highlight not only the significance of this personal achievement, but also the collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment that characterizes the CGA and the Cologne ageing research community.
We warmly congratulate Aish and David on this well-deserved recognition and wish them continued success in their scientific careers. We are proud to count them among our CGA alumni and look forward to following their future achievements.
