After the Cologne Ageing Summer School: What do our participants say?

The Cologne Ageing Summer School 2020 was surely a great experience for all people involved, with 4 days of interesting scientific lectures and discussion, a unique workshop on “Effective Presentation” and a Journal Club on the Hallmarks of Ageing! In addition, all 24 students from 13 different nations learned a lot about the graduate and Master fellowship programme of the CGA, having the opportunity to meet current students and the CGA coordinators and discuss with them about their possibilities here in Cologne!

Check out what some of the participants have to say about their experience:

The Summer School was a unique opportunity for me to broaden my horizon in many different ways: On the one hand in a personal way - here I had the chance to exchange ideas with prospective scientists with similar interests and also to meet members of the institute. On the other hand in terms of knowledge - the lectures, the presentation training and the Journal club were very interesting!
In conclusion, I learned a lot during this week, had a lot of fun and, although everything was held virtually, I got to know many nice fellow students. A plus for the organization!"

-Katharina Witt, Germany

„Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. I had a wonderful time connecting with all the students and the professors who gave lectures. A special thanks to the coordinators for organising the whole experience, especially the breakout rooms and the virtual tour of the school. The whole experience has been very educative and fruitful and I can't wait to apply for grad school at CGA next year! Thank you for this opportunity and your time and consideration. Take care and stay safe!“

-Sanjana Ananth, India

"The enthusiasm that every person taking part in the virtual Summer School of the CGA had, makes this experience definitely unforgettable. It gave me the opportunity to learn more about aging directly from the experts and have very enriching discussions with them and fellow students, in a way I haven't experienced before. The thing that I liked most about this program is that in four days, it allowed us to increase not only our academic knowledge but also helped us to develop soft skills that will help us in our professional career."
