About Cologne

Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany with over one million inhabitants. Founded by the Romans, it is one of the oldest cities in Germany with a rich 2000-year history. Situated on the river Rhine, Cologne is a favourite travel destination in Germany and Europe, especially known for its awe-inspiring cathedral, the Dom.

Cologne is a lively and dynamic metropolis with numerous cultural opportunities, strong visual arts and cinema, theatre, opera, orchestra, jazz and live music scene. Museums, concerts, and sports events abound. It is truly a fun-loving city, epitomized by its world famous Carnival festivities.

Cologne is also truly cosmopolitan, integrating 300,000 residents from all over the world into its social fabric.  Despite its large size, the open and warm-hearted character of the locals creates a unique atmosphere, and the distinct neighborhoods give the big city a cosy local touch.
